TRAINING
SVP enables Partners to translate their professional skills to working with nonprofits. Our training approach harnesses the expertise of our Partners and SVP’s unique approach to pro bono consulting. Onboarding, training, resources, and mentorship opportunities equip our Partners to work effectively with nonprofits through our engagements while learning about the nonprofit community and critical issues facing San Diego.
SVP Forums are curated trainings across support areas that help Partners sharpen their skills and provide them with a framework and tools for how to coach a nonprofit on a specific topic. Through The Exchange, Partners have access to a curated selection of tools and recorded trainings developed through Design Forums. These templates and guides improve Partner effectiveness, helping nonprofits increase their impact in the community.
We onboard Partners in quarterly cohorts, providing each incoming group with a Sherpa, a mentor to help navigate their first year with SVP. Partners participate in two-part orientation series providing a broad overview of the organization and SVP’s approach to a forming a unique alliance with nonprofits. Partner onboarding is timed to take full advantage of ongoing learning opportunities with SVP and to enable new Partners to join teams.
Partners can continue to explore the San Diego nonprofit community and SVP's approach to pro bono consulting by attending Behind the Scenes events, which showcase the work behind our engagements, amplify the voices of nonprofit leaders and provide an opportunity for learning from other Partners. There is also the opportunity to dive deep into local issues that impact our region through learning events hosted in-house or through one of our peer organizations, Catalyst and North County Philanthropy Council.
