We talk about leveraging the time, talent, and treasure of our community to make a greater impact, but how do we leverage the power of a Monday? We do it with an educational workshop called Monday's Matter that gives both local nonprofits and our Partnership a safe space to learn and give back to one another. We hope that by exploring a new matter, we can make not just your Monday, but everyday matter that much more.
At each event, we explore a different topic area, introduce two new nonprofits to our Partnership, and workshop capacity building challenges. We start by learning from the nonprofits who share their inspiring and impactful work which is an opportunity for Partners to understand how the issue they are tackling is specifically affecting San Diegans. So far, we have touched on reducing incarceration, the human-animal bond, creative youth development, youth homelessness. and senior and elder care.
In the second half of Monday's Matter, we flip the script and create a workshop where Partners split into teams, one per nonprofit, and do our best to help them workshop a capacity-based challenge--anything from marketing to board development to program evaluation. We hope that by allowing nonprofits to come to our Partners and receive support, we are providing both a learning opportunity and a helpful service.
This program has given us an opportunity to have a deeper impact on our community. Through extensive collaboration, we are able to bring together champions and that's the spirit of San Diego Social Venture Partners! Find out when the next Monday's Matter is here.
Social Venture Partners allows the unique opportunity for caring and informed San Diegans to give in a strategic and highly skilled way. Our Partners not only donate money that is pooled into unrestricted grants for multi-year support, but they also donate their time to help nonprofits develop their infrastructure. This assistance gives nonprofits a higher level of capacity to deliver on their own missions. Both kinds of Partner contributions support each other, allowing for SVP to increase our impact by leveraging our collective skills, networks, and dollars.
